Eddy Current testing is a NDT method, using electromagnetic principles for flaw detection in conductive materials (Materials that allow the flow of electrical current). ET is very sensitive and can detect surface and near surface cracks as small as 0.5mm.
The method is commonly used on painted/coated surfaces.
Detect defects through paint/coatings
Surfaces need little pre-cleaning and no couplant is needed
Effective on objects with complex geometry
Inspection is quick, clean and leaves no trace
Surface inspection can be performed both on ferromagnetic and non-ferromagnetic materials
